The Textorcist: The Story of Ray Bibbia to combine bullet hell with typing next month

Learn to type Latin passages and dodge enemy attacks all at once as Rome’s premier private exorcist, all in The Textorcist, which comes out on PC soon.

You know those one-hundred-percent accurate scenes in movies where a hacker types frenetically into a screen like they’re exorcising a demon? Italian game The Textorcist is going to make you look exactly like that, because it’s a game about exorcising demons by typing and dodging.

In the game, you take on the role of Ray Bibbia, the first private exorcist in Rome. As you follow him in his work, you will encounter a menagerie of demons to vanquish with your holy book. You’ll have to type out passages in Latin (the only language to demonstrably kill 99.9% of demons in clinical tests), and if you make a typo, you’ll suffer the unholy consequences. At the same time, you must dodge enemy attacks and environmental hazards.

Your exorcism journey will take you through the gritty streets of Rome, and you will encounter goth maids, gangsters, pimps, metal singers, and even the Pope himself.

The Textorcist is being developed by Italian developer Morbidware, which happens to be based in Rome itself, so expect authenticity. Publishing the game is Headup Games, which has previously published such gloried indies as Dead Cells and Slime-san.

The Textorcist is scheduled to release on 14th February, which makes this the perfect game for your significant other. There’s no official website for the game (it’s probably undergoing exorcism at the moment), but you’ll find a Steam page here. You might also want to check out the publisher’s website here. The developer doesn’t have a website either, but it is on Twitter.

For more unholy dark humour, have a look at the Diablo send-up Book of Demons. You might also enjoy messing with dead bodies in Graveyard Keeper.
